Blinds and Shades Quick Tips!

Energy Savers/Insulation – Window shades can be so much more than a decorative way to cover your windows. Certain window shades actually provide insulation against the elements, improving energy efficiency. Your best solution is Honeycomb Shades. Honeycomb shades, also known as cellular shades, or cell shades, provide insulation by blocking out the heat in the summertime and the cold in the winter time. The unique cellular construction of honeycomb shades forms an air pocket between the layers of fabric, providing insulation. The Double Cell Honeycomb Shades will give the maximum insulation.

Room Darkening – There are rooms where more than privacy is desired from your window shade or window blind. Bedrooms and media rooms are good examples. For these situations, Room Darkening or Blackout Shades will provide additional light blockage. Room darkening shades can be found in the Honeycomb/Cell Shade category, the Roman Shade category, the Woven / Bamboo Blinds category, the Roller Shade category, and the Sheer Shade category. It’s also important to note that even if the shade you want is not a Room Darkening or Blackout Shade, many of our window shades have the option of adding Privacy liners and Blackout liners.

Value Priced Blinds and Shades – SelectBlinds is a leader in the on-line window covering industry, allowing us to discount all of our window shades and window blinds. For those rooms where value pricing is the main concern, please visit our Faux Wood Blinds and Mini Blinds sections.

Door Blinds – Covering doors can be a challenge, especially when you want to coordinate the entire room with the same look. In this case, try our Designer Basswood Wood Blinds. They are available in 3 slat sizes, including 1”, which is perfect for French Doors. For sliding glass doors, and patio doors, visit the Vertical Blinds section.

Easy Installation – Once you have gone through the installation process of virtually any of our window shades or window blinds, they will all seem easy to install. If you don’t believe that gaining installation experience is important to you, then try our Roman shades. They are perhaps the easiest to install of all the window shades and window blinds that we offer on the site. Cell shades, and any horizontal window blind are also fairly straightforward and easy to install.
